Take Your Players to an "Away" Tournament!

If you’re looking for a great end-of-Spring experience for your competitive U9/U10* soccer team, you'll want to flap on over to Belmont for this event. Mark your calendar now for the Spring Chicken Jamboree on May 31-June 1, 2003. The San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization (SAYSO) has pulled out all of the stops to ensure that your players will have a great soccer experience. Very convenient location accessible from Highway 101. Restrooms on site. Not sure where Belmont is? Get your flying directions by pecking here.

Jamboree Format

13 chickens maximum on your roster; 6 minimum. Games are 8v8 (includes the goalkeeping chicken.) Small chicken yards, small goals, and modified game rules are used. Each team plays 4 games against four other teams - two games per day. Games consist of two 25 minute roastings. No pecking orders will be kept. USSF-certified referees used for all of the games and participate in a helpful manner. Spectators must remain quiet in the hen house. All chickens will receive a participant's jamboree pin. Jamboree tee shirts will be available at extra cost. Peck here to view the actual tournament rules.

Who Can Participate

The Spring Chicken Jamboree is a US Club Soccer (USCS) sanctioned tournament open to all competitive girls and boys’ teams in the U10 age division. Teams and players who are in good standing with their USSF affiliated associations including AYSO, USYS (CYSA), and USCS may participate. Teams may purchase jamboree insurance directly from SAYSO if they do not seek (or are not granted timely) release from their league, region, district, or association. All players must have been born on or after August 1, 1993. Player passes issued by the team's league registrar will be used only for proof of player age. All players may be guest players (i.e., may be assembled from other teams) as long as the players are registered with USSF affiliated associations. 16 teams total. We're looking for prime chickens here. No ducks allowed!

Cost

$150 per team. Includes hot dog player lunch on both days, referees, jamboree pins, referees, and ground poultry feed for all chickens. Chickens not already affiliated with AYSO, USYS (CYSA), or USCS will be charged $12 each to register with USCS. Teams not able to secure a release from their affiliated associations may purchase insurance from the tournament for $35 per team.

Barbecue Chicken Lunch Available on Both Days

If you don't care for the corn poultry feed on the ground, you'll appreciate this: No games will be scheduled from approximately 12:00 till 2:00 while our jamboree chefs fire up the grill and prepare you a barbecue lunch. A hot dog plate will be served to players on both days. Hot dogs, burgers, and fried chicken will be available for adults. All chickens will be plucked prior to cooking. You can "come and get it" from 12:00 till 1:00. Then, you can do the chicken dance or lay in the shade and cluck until the next game. (First game after lunch begins at 2:00.)

How to Apply

Deadline: May 1, 2003. Secure a prime spot in our hen house by completing the application form and returning it as soon as possible. Teams that purchase the supplementary team insurance do not need to apply through their association. Get your registration information and form by pecking here. Jamboree slots are limited to 8 teams of roosters and 8 teams of hens and will be accepted based on receipt date of completed registration process. Send the application and payment directly to SAYSO. If you are seeking release from your association, follow its tournament application procedure. Do not send registrations to US Club Soccer.
