So, you want to play Spring soccer? Great!

This page lists all outdoor Spring soccer programs on the San Francisco peninsula. However, it isn't very helpful in selecting among the programs. If you are new to all of the Spring soccer options and would like some quick guidance in selecting among them, call or email the SAYSO office. You may also use SAYSO's free Club Team Referral Service to help you find an appropriate team for your son or daughter.

Non-SAYSO Spring programs

Northern California Premier League: Ultra Competitive US Club Soccer (not CYSA) sanctioned league for U10-U18 girls and boys teams willing to travel throughout northern California for their weekend games. However, individual players cannot join this league; only teams may join this league. Players must tryout with club teams that intend to play in this league. For information on trying out, click here.

District 2 (CYSA only): Competitive Spring League (U9-U18) Burlingame to Salinas: Individual players cannot join this league; only CYSA teams or teams constructed from CYSA-registered players may join the District 2 Spring League. Players must tryout with club teams that intend to play in this league. For information on trying out, click here.

Redwood Junior Soccer League: Competitive Spring League (U8-U18) Burlingame to Palo Alto: This new league is sponsored by the largest CYSA soccer league on the peninsula (the second-largest league in CYSA's District 2, second only to the Santa Cruz County Youth Soccer League). The league is for northern peninsula teams who don't want to travel to Salinas and Santa Cruz (as they might in the District 2 Spring League) or even farther (as they would in the Northern California Premier League). The league is still forming, and this description will be updated as registration details are announced.

San Francisco Bay Area Soccer League: This competitive US Club Soccer spring league is open to all youth teams. It attracts primarily Latino, Spanish-speaking, and other teams of boys with common ethnicities.

District 1 (CYSA only) Police Activities League (PAL) San Francisco to mid-Peninsula: Semi-Competitive Spring League (U9-U18) This Spring League has been around for a long time and does a very credible job administratively. Teams may join this league, and individuals without teams may also sign up. Most teams joining are class-3 and class-4 (i.e., recreational), but class-1 teams are permitted. CYSA registration is required. New-to-CYSA teams may be formed specifically for this league. Priority is given to CYSA District 1 (i.e., San Francisco) teams, but the convenience appeals to teams from Burlingame down to about Redwood City. Although a CYSA interdistrict release is required to keep the team's insurance effective, out-of-district teams are permitted.

South Bay Youth Soccer: Recreational Spring League (U6-U14) Approximately 100 recreational teams are formed in all of the age categories. This league registers individuals and forms them into teams. Since no one is turned away, this represents one of the best opportunities for players that are too young to play full-field outdoor soccer in leagues. All games are played in Campbell. For more information, email or call Norm Tavares at 408-248-8516.

Milpitas Soccer Club Spring League: Recreational Spring League open to players in all adjacent cities. This league registers individuals and forms them into teams. For more information, visit the website or contact Eric Donkers at 650-996-0571.

AYSO Pacific Coast Spring Soccer League: Semi-Competitive Spring League (U10-U16) San Francisco down to approximately Redwood City: This is primarily an AYSO spring league although class-3 and class-4 CYSA teams are accepted. (CYSA teams will be required to reregister their players in AYSO for the purpose of the spring season.) Teams (not individuals) join this league. AYSO teams and/or players may need to have played in the previous fall season. For league contacts and other registration information, click on "SCHEDULES" at the top of the mysoccerleague.com website, then select "Pacific Coast Spring Soccer League". For more information on the Pacific Coast Spring Soccer League, contact your local fall AYSO regional commissioner.

Saratoga AYSO: Recreational Spring League (U6-U19) Saratoga

Salinas Valley Youth Soccer League: Recreational Spring League (U6-U16, boys and girls)

Cupertino AYSO/West San Jose AYSO: Recreational Spring Soccer League (U6-12): Games may require travel between Cupertino, Saratoga, Watsonville, and Prunedale.

Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League (CYSA): Recreational Spring Soccer League (U6-U10): This league is centered in Morgan Hill where most of the games would be played.
