Road Trip, Away
Tournament, and Hotel Rules
General
Your actions and attitudes off the field communicate more about you, this team, your parents, and your coaches than what you do on the field. People watch SAYSO teams all the time. (Our statewide reputation is that we DO win every game we play.) It is important that you be the most friendly and polite person anyone has ever met.
There will be no ‘tudes on this trip. Everyone will either get along or “shake it off” for the duration.
There will be no CLIQUES on this trip. Every person is important and we need everyone on the team. Never leave someone in your van or room out of plans that you make.
Never leave someone alone in an isolated location, even if they ask be alone.
Do not complain about the roommates you “drew” out of the hat.
Do not switch/swap/trade/borrow roommates, even if everyone agrees.
Unless it’s a matter of safety or health, or is contrary to one of SAYSO’s safety rules, do not correct, pick on, or nag at each other. Coaches and chaperones will handle any discipline problems.
Unless it’s a matter of safety or health, or is contrary to one of the behavior rules, do not rat on your teammates. Ask your captains if you’re not sure.
No smoking, chewing, drinking, etc. No possession of same. No nuclear warheads of other weapons of mass destruction. If it’s questionable, you better not.
Public use of profanity is not tolerable.
1. Know the numbers of the rooms of your coaches
and chaperones.
2. Know your schedule and game times. You should
never be late.
Curfew: (Friday and Saturday evenings)
10:00 - quiet time begins - (Everyone
should be back in their rooms, out of the pool, no running around the halls,
etc. You don’t have to be silent during quiet time; just don’t be loud.)
10:30

11:00 - lights out, no exceptions. “Lights out” means you talk for 10 minutes, then you go to sleep. It doesn’t mean you talk until 1:30 a.m.)

7:15 meet

3. When it’s time to be in your room (after
10:00 p.m.), do not leave it. You should already have gotten ice and soda.
4. Keep your hotel door closed and locked. Don’t
open the door to strangers or even “security guards”. Call one of the coaches
if you don’t recognize who’s on the other side of the peephole.
5. Except with the team, you are not allowed to
go anywhere without (1) asking one of the coaches or chaperones, and (2) taking
your entire room group.
6. No loud talking, screaming, laughing, radio,
or TV. Other people in the hotel really DO come to the hotel to sleep.
7. Unless you are married to them, no males in
females’ rooms, and no females in males’ rooms. Even with doors open.
8. Do not be rowdy or loud in the pool.
9. Don’t charge anything to your room: no food
or phone calls.
10. Room-to-room calls are fine, but keep your
conversations short so that others can get in touch with you.
11. If you break/stain/destroy/lose something that
belongs to the hotel, tell one of the coaches or chaperones.
12. No all-night movies.
13. No adult TV channels. Not even the free
previews.
14. Use your common sense. If it’s questionable,
don’t even consider it.
