What
to Bring
When
it is Your Turn
to Bring the Treats to Practices
(also see: What to Bring When it is Your Turn to Bring Treats for Games)
"WHEN is it MY turn to bring treats?" See the Practice Schedule for your team.
In addition to bringing enough treats for each team player, you may also want to include extra helpings for players who are particularly tired/hot and drinks/treats for siblings who come to support the game. This is totally up to you.
Let's try to stay away from candy bars. Also, those expensive "energy bars" ("sports bars", "nutrition bars", etc.) are just expensive candy bars that take too long to metabolize to be of any value in a practice or game.
For SHORT Practices (1 and 1½ hours)
or
We usually only need a "reward treat" after practice. Nothing (but water) is distributed at the breaks unless it is extraordinarily hot. When it is hot, we go slowly and usually celebrate half way through practice with popsicles. If you declare it to be a popsicle day, be sure to let the coach know that you've brought them.
· Treats for after the practice can be Fruitios, fruit roll-ups (or similar), or a granola bar. This can be your child's choice of treat, as he/she will be passing them out to the team. If it's your child's birthday, you may bring a special treat to celebrate.
·
Large
jug of cold water for players who forget their water bottles
·
Paper
cups from which to drink the water
·
Roll
of paper towels
· Trash bag (You are in charge of collecting the garbage from players and reminding them not to leave their trash on the field.)
LONG Practices (2 hours)
+
(
or
)
We usually need a half-time treat that can be handed out and consumed quickly AND a "reward treat" after practice.
· Half-time fruit should be in individual baggies, one for each player. Choose from:
* Seedless oranges (Each player needs half an orange minimum. Cut each orange in half. Cut halves into wedges. Put the wedges into a baggie.)
* Seedless grapes (About the same volume as half an orange. Just cut in clumps for each baggie.)
* Seedless watermelon slices (These are easy to pass out so you don't need to put into individual baggies unless you so choose)
* On extraordinarily hot days, we go slowly and usually celebrate half way through practice with popsicles. If you declare it to be a popsicle day, be sure to let the coach know that you've brought them.
·
Disposable
wipes (like "wet ones")
for sticky hands
· Treats for after practice. Fruitios, fruit roll-ups (or, similar), or granola bar. This can be your child's choice of treat, as he/she will be passing them out to the team. If it's your child's birthday, maybe cookies or cup cakes. It is not necessary to provide cold drinks or major food after the practice, since the players are heading home for dinner.
