We need a half-time treat that can be handed out and consumed quickly AND, for after the game, a drink of juice and "reward treat". Let's try to stay away from candy bars. Also, those expensive "energy bars" ("sports bars", "nutrition bars", etc.) are just expensive candy bars that take too long to metabolize to be of any value in a practice or game.
In addition to bringing enough treats for each team player, you may also want to include extra helpings for players who are particularly tired/hot drinks/treats for siblings who come to support the game. This is totally up to you.
If you want to borrow the team rolling cooler, please let us know that you will need to pick it up at the previous practice day.
· Half-time fruit should be in 10 individual baggies, one for each player. Choose 1 kind of fruit for everyone or the same mixture for everyone. Here are some suggestions:
* Seedless oranges (Each player needs 1/2 an orange minimum. Cut each orange in half. Cut halves into wedges & put into each baggie.)
* Seedless grapes (About the same volume as half an orange. Just cut in clumps for each baggie.)
* Seedless watermelon slices (These are easy to pass out so you don't need to put into individual baggies unless you so choose.)
* Strawberries (About 4 in each baggie, depending on the size.)
· Cold drinks for after the game. One per player. Juice bags, cans, or boxes are great as are individual small bottles of water. Not necessary to buy those expensive athletic drinks (e.g., Gatorade). Drinks with vitamins whenever possible. Avoid carbonated beverages.
· Treats for after the game. This can be your child's choice of treat, as he/she will be passing them out to the team. Individually wrapped items are preferred. If you want to bring extras for siblings who come to cheer, that would be great!
