Competitive Soccer
as for Any Other Reason

Choose from the "Who are you?" options below.

I want my child to play in order to get more exercise.
A professional (doctor, counselor, etc.) recommended that my child play soccer.
I want my child to learn how to socialize and get along with other children.
I just want my child (who loves drawing, dance, music, and acting) to play a sport.
I want my child to learn to be more aggressive, to be tougher, or to cry less.
I want my child to grow up and start acting more maturely.
I want my child to play soccer because I did.

The response to all of these is the same.

Honestly, parent-to-parent, competitive soccer probably isn't where your child should be. Recreational soccer is probably a much better option. Competitive soccer takes children far outside of their comfort zones - so far, in fact, that the motivation needs to be internal. Players who are not driven to excel in a challenging environment - children who are placed into competitive soccer without wanting to be there - generally have an unpleasant experience.

There are always exceptions. SAYSO can help you explore if your child is one of them.
