The Self-Motivated
Player

Players who themselves recognize that they are different from recreational players make the quickest transition into competitive soccer. These are the players who don't want to be told (by recreational coaches and administrators) to STOP scoring in a game, to be LESS aggressive, not to head the ball or slide tackle, and to play in the back after they have reduced their opponents to tatters. These are the players who don't want to be substituted out so that weaker teammates can be permitted to play. These are the players who often know more about their sport than their recreational coaches and, sometimes even, more than the volunteer recreational referees that officiate their games. These are the players who don't have to be taught to play hard and who naturally "leave everything on the field."

SAYSO will help you find a competitive team. We hope that you will consider playing for a SAYSO team - we think we have a lot to offer in terms of organization, coaching, and wonderful youth players. Finding a team can be a huge endeavor - this website (click here) lists all of the steps if you wish to do your own research. If you would like some help, SAYSO can notify all of the coaches in your child's age group of your interest and availability. Any coaches with openings on their teams will contact you directly. This has to be the easiest way to find a team for your child.

Making the right decision for you and your family requires a lot of careful thought. SAYSO office staff are familiar with many of the options that might present themselves to you, and you are welcome to discuss these options with us.
