Permission to Participate and Information Sheet

 

The San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization (SAYSO) is sponsoring a 1-day goalkeeping clinic for youth players who want to learn the most effective skills, techniques, and strategies for that position.


      DATE: Saturday, August __, 2005;     9:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. - skills and techniques
                                                        1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. - positioning, strategies, and game control
 
      LOCATION: Central Elementary School, 525 Middle Road, Belmont, CA 94002
 

DESCRIPTION: This clinic consists of approximately 5 hours of field training for beginning and intermediate goalkeepers, boys and girls (coed), U9-U16.

YOU WILL LEARN:  Goalkeeper stretches and warm-up routines. Basic goalkeeping skills: catching, distribution, punting, punching, field positioning, low diving, deflections and tipping away, positioning, handling breakaways, verbal control of the field, strategies for corner kicks, free kicks, penalty kicks, and more. You'll learn what is needed in a goalkeeper's equipment bag. What to do at the coin toss. What kind of a hat to buy. You'll learn the one way to do everything correctly. And, you'll learn to avoid the most common mistakes made by goalkeepers.

COST: $45 per participant

TO ENROLL: Space is limited to 30 goalkeepers. Reserve by sending your name, contact information (including email address), $45 check (payable to "SAYSO"), and the Permission to Participate (below) to: San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization, 1250 Fifth Avenue, Suite 123, Belmont, CA 94002. You will receive a confirmation via email or mail.

PREREQUISITES: The SAYSO Goalkeeper clinic does not require prior goalkeeping playing experience. The course is perfect for new goalkeepers. Mastery of aerial gymnastic movements is not expected. The course does not require the ultimate in physical fitness or endurance.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Each participant must wear shin guards, soccer socks, goalkeeping gloves, and a long-sleeve shirt or goalkeeper jersey. The following equipment is recommended: compression shorts, diving pants or sweat pants, and a hat. In addition, each participant should bring an age-appropriate sized-ball, notepad and pen, bag lunch and drink, water bottle, and sunscreen.

DIRECTIONS to Central School in Belmont: From 101: Take the Ralston-Marine(world) Parkway exit. Go west on Ralston Avenue. After going under the underpass, turn right onto El Camino. Turn left (west) at the first signal onto Middle Road. The Central School entrance is on the right after the first stop sign.

Permission to Participate
 

I, (printed name) ___________________________ , am the parent or legal guardian of (printed name) ______________________________, request and willingly permit my child to participate in the San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization’s goalkeeper clinics and/or Goalkeepers Academy. My child will participate in the clinic using the required and recommended proper protective equipment. Should my child participate without the required and recommended proper protective equipment, he/she will do so at our own risk. I acknowledge that soccer goalkeeping activities are of a strenuous physical nature and pose some inherent risk of injury. In exchange for permission to participate, I waive all claims of damage, liability, and injury against the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District, the City of Belmont, SAYSO, the clinic staff, and other participants in this clinic.
