Contents of a Well-Packed
Tournament Soccer Bag

 

The following contents should be brought to games and tournaments in your team bag. For practices, you may bring fewer items in an alternate, smaller bag may be used. Bag contents will vary with the season.
For All Players

In addition to the uniform (jersey, shorts, socks, and shin guards) being worn,
and, depending on the season:

- luggage tag on the outside strap
- clear 8-1/2"x11" sheet protector taped to inside bag bottom, containing
     - name, address, phone number on 8-1/2"x11" sheet
     - copy of both sides of medical insurance wallet card
     - copy of medical treatment authorization
     - copy of birth certificate
- alternate uniform or jersey, if any
- 2 or 3 tight-sealing water bottles
- nylon windbreaker or lightweight jacket
- inexpensive fold-up plastic poncho (clear)
- sweatpants and sweatshirt
- brimmed cap
- large handkerchief
- soccer gloves or mittens with individual full fingers
- long-sleeved, white turtleneck
- extra underwear
- other team clothing of your choice
- a plastic trash bag (to hold wet/dirty clothing and muddy boots)
- inhaler (if you use one) dedicated to your soccer bag
- cosmetic bag containing:
     - rubber bands or scrunchies for hair
     - band-aids in a sandwich baggie (good collection of different sizes, including the massive 2"x2")
     - tube of sun block
     - chapstick
     - very small tube of petroleum jelly
     - your own medical needs (e.g., pain reliever, allergy medicine)
- instant cold pack*
- personal feminine needs
- optional: travel pack of Kleenex
- optional: premoistened packaged towlettes
- optional: $2.00 in change
- sandals/comfortable shoes (for between tournament games)
- stud wrench (for boots with replaceable studs)
- small file (for boots with replaceable plastic studs)
- optional: extra socks
- optional: spare soccer boots, banded together
- optional: spare shin guards (banded with old boots)
- optional: sunglasses
- optional: dry washcloth; small towel
- optional: gum, or small candies (in plastic bag)
  
* All players should have two or three flexible,  reusable cool  packs in their freezer at home at all times.

For Goalkeepers

- goalkeepers padded jersey
- game gloves
- short-brimmed biking hat
- optional: extra water bottle for gloves
- optional: extra jersey in contrasting color
- optional: extra pair of gloves
- optional: padded keepers shorts  
- optional: padded keepers long pants
- optional: padded sliding/compression/biker shorts (Skidz, F&Gs, etc.)
- optional: more extensive first-aid kit, including larger (square) band-aids and Ace bandages.
Families
  
In  addition, your family may want to assemble and dedicate the following items for use at games and tournaments:
  
- cooler for your family lunch
- family water jug
- lawn chairs for members of your family
- sand umbrella (with pointed end for driving into the ground)
- blanket and pillow for resting on the ground
- another blanket for freezing, cold days
- large waterproof tarp
- large (very) rain umbrellas
