Thank you. We're looking forward
to meeting you and your child.
In
preparation for the spring and fall seasons, SAYSO schedules several
open-to-the-public tryouts. The dates are listed below.
During the rest of the year, regular
afternoon practices are used to evaluate new players in all age
categories who want to play on fall Gryphons teams. U7 and younger
players who want to participate in SAYSO's Sunday rec-to-comp clinics do not
have to try out and are accepted on a space-available basis. One-on-one
field evaluations can be scheduled during the early summer months when
most SAYSO teams do not practice.
We'll make it as easy as
possible for you to get to know us. You're welcome to come to the next
few practice sessions with the team of your choice. Here is a listing of
SAYSO's current teams.
Visiting with us is very easy: Basically, you just show up and introduce
yourself to one of the coaches on the field. Then, your child will be
included in the team's regular practice. You may stay and watch the
entire practice. Send us an
email or call us at (650) 593-5161 so that we can tell you when
and where the teams are meeting. The office staff will also ask that you
print out, complete and sign, and bring to practice a tryout
information form in either
online or
Word
document format.
Email
SAYSO to be reminded of
the dates below and to be notified of replacement dates after rainouts. |

Upcoming Open SAYSO Tryouts
Open
Tryout Methodology:
Public tryouts include participating in a fun
carnival-atmosphere set low-pressure activities doing things that all
children just naturally like to do. Children may be asked to
demonstrate simple soccer skills (e.g., running with, kicking, and
passing the ball) and athletic abilities (e.g., jumping and running
forward and backward) at different stations. They will participate
in one or more 30-minute practice games. Parents may remain with,
accompany, and observe their children. The entire tryout process takes
approximately an hour and a half. If a child's performance is adversely
affected by recent illness or injury, weather, clothing or equipment
malfunction, or scheduling conflict, he/she may participate in a
subsequent tryout, or the parent may request an individual, one-on-one
evaluation with a SAYSO coach. (Goalkeepers are not evaluated at these
tryouts. Parents of goalkeepers may contact SAYSO to arrange for a
special session to be held at their convenience.) If a parent does not
receive a consultation with a coach or a report after the tryout,
she/she can view anonymous tryout results by
clicking here.
Player Equipment: Players trying out
should dress as if playing in a game. Shin guards and closed-toe shoes
must be worn. No other special clothing is required. Players may wear
old uniforms or other shorts and tee shirts. Players should bring their
own water bottle and sunscreen.
Cost to try out: None |
