So, you want to play soccer during the summer? Great!

There are many camp opportunities to learn and improve your soccer skills during the summer, but there are very few summer leagues where teams actually play against one another. This page lists all summer soccer programs on the San Francisco peninsula known to SAYSO. However, it isn't very helpful in selecting from amongst the programs. If you are new to all of the summer soccer options and would like some quick guidance in selecting among them, call or email the SAYSO office. If your real interest is in finding a competitive ("CY", club, select, CYSA or US Club, traveling, tournament, etc.) team for your son or daughter, you may also use SAYSO's free Club Team Referral Service.

The following programs are listed by the San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization (SAYSO) as a public service. SAYSO neither endorses nor implies endorsement by the following non-SAYSO programs. SAYSO is not affiliated with the following non-SAYSO programs and is not responsible for their curricula or activities. Trademarks and trade names are the properties of their respective owners, regardless of whether the trademarks and trade names are marked as being registered.

Summer Soccer Camps
Public Camps - Summer soccer for most San Francisco Peninsula youth players centers around attending one or more summer soccer camps. There are numerous choices of camps for each weekend during the summer. Camps vary greatly. Some are great introductions to the sport for new players, others are for serious soccer players who want to run and get sweaty, while still others serve as out-of-doors day care for working parents. Please contact each summer soccer camp in this listing (click here) individually.

City Programs - Some cities may offer summer programs. You'll have to contact the city parks and recreation departments one by one and inquire about their Kidz Love Soccer or similar programs that they offer.
Outdoor Summer Leagues
There are only a few outdoor youth soccer leagues on the San Francisco Peninsula during the summer.

MYSL Summer Soccer League - This is one of the very few summer (mid-June to mid-August) CYSA leagues, presented by the Mission Youth Soccer League of San Francisco. Divisions for boys U6-U19 and girls U8-U16 accommodate almost everyone. Cost is $525-$675 per team. U6-U10 divisions are recreational, while older divisions are competitive. All games are played on Saturdays. Registration deadline is is mid April for this summer program. There is no website for this league, but it's been going for 17 years. For more information, contact
Jose Guzman at 415-678-9955 or 415-648-8049.

Half Moon Bay AYSO Summer League
... when inclusion, participation, and environment are esteemed qualities. This AYSO program is held during the summer in order to avoid conflicts with other coast-side sports seasons. Individual players, not teams, join this league and are combined into teams. The program follows the regular AYSO guidelines. (No tryouts. Everyone is accepted. Everyone plays.) Registration is in April or May. Late registrations may be accepted, and HMB residency is not required. Despite the similarity in initials, AYSO is not affiliated with the San Andreas Youth Soccer Organization (SAYSO).

Pacifica/South San Francisco Recreational Summer League ... a recreational program starting June 3 for boys and girls ages 5-9.

SF Parks and Rec 7-Aside League (June-August; San Francisco) - 7 v 7 league on reduced-size fields, using smaller goals, and without offside rule. Most 'older' ages, U10-U19 plus adult divisions, are accommodated. Youths play on Monday and/or Wednesday afternoons. Futsal, CYSA, and other affiliations accepted. Registration is by team. Individual players should contact the league and inquire about being placed on an existing team. Youth team registration fee is approximately $175. Application deadline is approximately June 1st. For more information, call Jose Guzman at 201-3100/648-8049 or Luis Azucena at 695-5008 or 648-4375, or email at recparksoccer@sfgov.org.

Indoor Leagues
Almost all of the indoor facilities have indoor summer leagues. You just have to contact them individually.
  • Indoor Soccer - New indoor youth leagues playing on dasher-board/artificial turf indoor facilities form approximately every 3 months. Indoor facilities generally register entire teams into their leagues, but they also have ways of assisting or accommodating individual players who are looking for teams to play on. There are only a handful of dasher-board/artificial turf indoor facilities in the Bay Area. Please contact each indoor soccer facility individually.

  • Futsal Leagues - Futsal, the only form of indoor soccer that is recognized world-wide, uses a special "dead" ball inside a standard basketball court without using the walls. The game is played 5v5, resulting in many touches on the ball and accelerated player skill development. And, since the team size is less than half the standard outdoor soccer team size of eleven, futsal can be played by older players during the high school season. Most futsal is played during the winter when the outdoor fields are closed. A summer league is the Jose Coronado Memorial Futsal League sponsored by San Francisco Parks and Recreation. For more information, call Luis Azucena at (415) 695-5008.

  • Boys and Girls Clubs - Boys and Girls Clubs, of which there are several in the Bay Area, often offer indoor soccer using a fuzzy ball inside a basketball court. One that offers indoor soccer on a regular basis is the Mid-Peninsula Clubhouse in San Mateo.

  • Police Activities Leagues - The PALs are similar to Boys and Girls Clubs in concept. In fact, the two organizations sometimes combine their efforts. San Mateo PAL offers indoor soccer through the Mid-Peninsula Clubhouse.
Summer Tournaments, Jamborees, and Festivals
Often, these are events for teams, not individuals
  • San Mateo Elks Festival - Held each year at the end of summer (i.e., early September) at Serra High School in San Mateo, the San Mateo Elks Festival gives local teams (particularly the youngest) an opportunity to play several short-sided games on small fields. For more information, contact Ignacio Perez, 650-483-1345, perezignacio@comcast.net.
  • See SAYSO's Find-a-Jamboree page.
