GAME RESCHEDULING RULES
Rescheduling for reasons not exempted by the SAYSO Board requires a $50.00 rescheduling fee paid to SAYSO. You may pay this fee online using the PayPal secure server via the Rescheduling Payments link.
(1) Make-up games must be rescheduled within 15 days of the original date.
(2) Except in cases where the rescheduling is beyond the control of the home team, a minimum seven days written notice (using the appropriate SAYSO Rescheduling Form) must be given to the opposing team AND the SAYSO Scheduler.
(3) The Reschedule Form must be signed by both teams' coaches/managers and received by mail or fax by the SAYSO Scheduler seven (7) days in advance of the proposed reschedule. The reschedule form will be signed by the SAYSO Scheduler and faxed back to the requesting team for their records.
Hint: In order to meet the seven (7) day requirement for rescheduling, the team requesting the reschedule must contact the opponent at least three (3) days prior to the seven (7) day rescheduling requirement. The three (3) day minimum contact time is necessary to allow both teams to communicate, sign the rescheduling form, and submit same to the SAYSO Scheduler.
(4) If the team being asked to reschedule is unresponsive, it is the requesting team's responsibility to contact the SAYSO Scheduler in writing within the THREE day communication period. The SAYSO Scheduler will then act as witness to the claim of attempting to reach the other administrator. However, it shall remain the responsibility of the requesting team to get the fully executed reschedule form to the SAYSO Scheduler in order for a Reschedule to be valid. If a team is unresponsive, the SAYSO Scheduler may, at his or her discretion, reschedule the game wherever and whenever he/she deems appropriate. This ruling may be made at any time in the process. Both teams will be bound by this decision. In this case, the unresponsive team shall pay a $50 fee.
(5) The following are acceptable reasons for rescheduling games with less than seven days notice. Payment of the $50 fee is at the discretion of the SAYSO Scheduler.
(a) Field Closures Due to Weather: If fields are closed due to weather, the home team is to contact visiting team three hours before game time but no earlier than 6:00 a.m.. If the visiting team is not given proper notice, they may present their grievance to the SAYSO Scheduler who may allow the visiting team to reschedule the game at its home field, with the original home team paying all referee fees. Games called by the referees on the field, shall be rescheduled by the home team. (b) Loss of fields beyond the control of the home league: In this case, the visiting team may request to have the rescheduled game played at its own home field with the original home team paying all referee fees. (c) Assigned referees fail to show: In this case, the visiting team may request to have the rescheduled game played at its own home field with the original home team paying all referee fees. (d) Games called in the first half due to darkness or weather (e) Other exceptional reasons (Acts of God, etc.) as determined by the SAYSO Scheduler (f) Schedule changes made by the SAYSO Scheduler(6) The following are acceptable reasons for rescheduling games with seven or more days notice. Payment of the $50 fee is mandatory unless waived by the SAYSO Board.
(a) State level ODP tryouts involving players and/or coaches (b) Field or time changes (c) Loss of fields beyond the control of the home team, club, or league (d) Rosh Hashanah and/or Yom Kippur holidays (e) PSAT or SAT test dates when a game has been scheduled prior to a 1:30 p.m. start time (f) Other exceptional reasons (Acts of God, etc.) as determined by the SAYSO Scheduler(7) The following are not acceptable reasons for rescheduling games:
(a) unavailability of coach (except for State ODP tryouts) (b) unavailability of players (except when State ODP tryouts reduce the team roster below 7) (c) having loaned players to other teams for tournaments (d) proms, dances, dates, and other parties (e) conflicts with other sports(8) The consequences of violating the rescheduling rules and/or rescheduling a game without the prior written consent of the SAYSO Scheduler shall be: (a) Fine of $100 for the first instance; (b) Fine of $300 for the second instance; (c) Disciplinary Committee hearing for the third instance with further fines and other consequences possible.
